The Health and Safety at Work Amendment Act is set to come into force on 1 April 2027. It represents the most significant change to New Zealand's health and safety framework this decade, and every PCBU will be affected. While the legislation aims to simplify compliance through clearer language and a more risk-based approach, the reality is more complex. Key provisions require careful interpretation, particularly when considered alongside recent case law, including the Ports of Auckland Court of Appeal decision.
