EMA Health and Safety Webinar: Workplace Drug Testing
The EMA will host a timely health and safety webinar on Tuesday 7 October to provide clarity, share best practice and support employers in navigating this increasingly complex space. It will be led by our legal and safety experts with plenty of Q&A time.
Description
The EMA's Safety AdviceLine has seen an increasing frequency of calls coming through from Members about drug and alcohol use, and implementing testing correctly.
We know workplace drug testing is rapidly gaining traction across New Zealand, driven by evolving substance-use patterns, heightened safety expectations, and growing complexity, including the inclusion of opioids like tramadol and fentanyl in standard screening panels. At the same time, the rise in prescription cannabis has introduced further legal grey areas - leaving many businesses unsure how to balance employee rights with health and safety obligations.
Drug testing is a sensitive issue that is informed by workplace safety, employment relations, and privacy. So, let's talk about it, and get it right for your business.
