Member-exclusive forum with Mr Chen Shijie, Chinese Consul General
The EMA in partnership with the Chinese Business Centre is pleased to welcome Chinese Consul General, Mr Chen Shijie to meet with our Members at 4pm on Tuesday, 27 May.
Description
The EMA is pleased to welcome Chinese Consul General, Mr Chen Shijie to meet with our Members at 4pm on Tuesday, 27 May. With business communities navigating extraordinary circumstances amid fluctuating tariffs from the US Government, this is a rare opportunity to hear directly from the Consul General and understand more about any implications for free trade between New Zealand and China.
New Zealand has a long, co-operative and resilient relationship with China, being the first western country to sign a historic Free Trade Agreement with China in 2008. In 2025, the nation is our largest trading partner ahead of the US and Australia, receiving 22% of our exported goods and services.
Mr Chen Shijie will present to EMA Members on the impacts of international policies on the business community and China's potential response measures, followed by time for you to share your views and ask questions of the Consul General.
Join us for this remarkable chance to hear the direction of travel for a pivotal trade partnership. This event is not to be missed for leaders across the business community, and will be of particular interest for our Members in export and manufacturing.
When: Tuesday 27 May 2025
Time: 3.45pm arrival for a 4pm presentation start
Where: EMA Business Hub Grafton, Auckland
