EMA Connect (Auckland, May 2025) - Restructuring Misconceptions and Unintended Consequences
At our next Connect event in Auckland, join Lisa Oakley, for an interactive breakfast on managing restructuring risks and minimising unintended consequences.
Description
Restructuring can be seen as a silver bullet.
The reality? Poorly planned change management sets you up to find a guaranteed personal grievance lurking around every corner.
At our next Connect event in Auckland, join Lisa Oakley, an EMA consultant with over 20 years of experience, for an interactive breakfast session on managing restructuring risks, understanding common misconceptions, and minimising unintended consequences. Topics will include:
- Getting the right organisation design to start with
- Constructive communication with your people before restructuring
- The challenge of consultation and selection processes
- Awareness of misuse in restructuring processes, and the positive duty to redeploy
- Balancing concurrent processes within your teams - for example, when a disciplinary issue arises mid-restructure or employees go on parental leave
- Personal grievance hotspots and how to sidestep them - for example, the risks of re-advertising roles too soon and the importance of securing a 149 settlement
- Rebuilding a strong team post-restructure
Lisa will also explore the good, the bad, and the litigious through case study scenarios.
Light refreshments will be provided, with plenty of time for Q&A with Lisa. These events are a great peer-to-peer learning and networking opportunity within the Auckland HR community. We encourage you to book now, as they regularly hit capacity - and bring your questions.
