EMA Member Briefings: Summer 2025
Kick-off 2025 with everything you need to know about the economic and legislative forecast and employment law updates as our hits the road again from Kerikeri to Taupō!
Description
In our recent survey of over 900 businesses, we heard loud and clear that EMA Members value our Briefing series and opportunities to connect with each other. We're delighted to launch our next round of Member Briefings, with our Advocacy and Legal teams on the road from Taupō to Kerikeri in February and March.
With significant work underway since the last Briefings, in this round we'll cover:
- The Holidays Act and what we expect the new legislation to contain.
- Vocational education reform consultation, including the redesigned Institute of Technology and Polytechnic system, an industry-led approach to standards-setting and industry training, and changes to vocational education funding from 2026.
- What we expect in the replacement Resource Management Act legislation, which the government has signalled will be introduced in mid-2025.
- Recent changes to New Zealand’s immigrations settings, particularly the Accredited Employer Work Visa and Recognised Seasonal Employer Scheme, and how they will affect employers.
- Progress on the major reforms to health and safety legislation, including outcomes of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 consultation.
- How we see the 30-year National Infrastructure Plan shaping up ahead of the release of the draft plan in mid-2025, and the new National Infrastructure Agency’s role in attracting private sector financing.
- The significant health and safety prosecution of the former Ports of Auckland Limited Chief Executive and its implications for senior leaders, along with other important rulings from the Employment Court and Employment Relations Authority.
We'll also cover the latest news from the EMA and what we're doing to champion our Members. Spaces are strictly limited and we regularly reach capacity, so book now and reserve your spot at your nearest event by hitting the registration button!
With plenty of ground to cover, each session will start at the exact time given. We encourage arriving 10-15 minutes early to settle in and take the opportunity to engage with your EMA Membership Manager and the EMA's Advocacy and Legal teams.
