What you’ll learn…

 

Emergency Warden and Evacuation Procedures

This course will benefit business owners and their Emergency Wardens to ensure they have a sound knowledge of their roles and responsibilities, evacuation planning and procedures as well as what to do after an event to comply with NZ legislation and regulations. Topics include: 

  • Types of emergencies – understand some of the situations you may be faced with as an Emergency Warden in New Zealand.
  • Emergency signs and messaging – identify what they are and where they should be used.
  • Being the best you can be - recognise the importance of knowing your building, gear and people.
  • Evacuating – understand the dangers of smoke, the importance of evacuation planning and know how to conduct a trial or real evacuation in the event of an emergency, plus what happens when Emergency Services arrive.
  • Health and Safety Requirements – know what and how NZ’s legislation and regulations impact what you do as an Emergency Warden and as a business.

 

Fire Equipment Training

This awareness course gives you a basic understanding of a range of hand-operated Fire Equipment to gain a sound knowledge of how to use the equipment as well as which fire hazards each piece of equipment can be used upon to safely suppress the flames. This course will also remind learners of the importance of their personal safety and the safety of others in the workplace. Topics include: 

  • Understanding the different types of extinguishers and when to use them.
  • Prevent fires by following safety procedures learnt.
  • Understand the procedures to follow when contacting the emergency services and when to call them.

 

By the end of this learning series, you will have a deeper understanding of how to be prepared and stay calm in an emergency situation, so you can make good that will keep yourself and others safe.
