The programme is an excellent steppingstone to further study such as the NZ Certificate in Workplace Health & Safety Practice (Level 4).

  • Recognise competencies associated with the prevention of common workplace injuries and the safe operation of equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of legislative requirements and workplace health and safety practices to the general workplace environment.
  • Apply the requirements for workplace health and safety communication to a job role.
  • Apply the principles of health and safety risk assessment to a job role.
  • Identify, assess and manage hazards and risks.
  • Use the required levels of workplace communication in regard to health and safety.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the benefits of good workplace health and safety practices on yourselves, families and the wider community.

 

NZQA Standards

The programme includes 11 x NZQA Unit standard assessments. Learners who achieve the unit standards attached to this course will have them added to their Record of Achievement with NZQA. This course is yet to gain programme approval from NZQA to qualify learners for the New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 3).

 

Duration: Face to face (in class). This course is delivered via 4 x monthly 2-day modules + 1 study day, spread over a five-month period. This approach allows for a minimal impact on your work while providing ample time to complete course assessments between each 2-day module.
